Shop: Salvation Army
Every last Thursday and Friday of the month the local Salvation Army offers a half price sale.
Everything in the store is 50% off and often times can be negotiated to
an even lower price! Even better is that they let me set things aside a few days ahead of the sale, so if I see something I want on the Monday, I can set it aside and buy it on the sale day!
A few weeks ago I went browsing though the kitchen stuff at the Salvation Army and came across an older model Kitchenaid blender. I immediately knew why the blender was not working, the coupler was worn down. The motor purred but the blending blades remained still. I asked the lady at the counter for the price of the broken blender and to my delight - 3$ but 1.50$ with the discount. SOLD!
On Amazon.com the coupler piece repair set is about 12-14$, but it can be difficult to do the first time so I figured I would look for someone to repair it for me. As luck would have it, one of my favorite shops for repairs, sharpening and small appliances was able to repair the blender for 30$, guaranteed for 1 year.
So this is my 31.50$ Ktichenaid blender!
