Homemade Challenge: Yogurt
We made homemade yogurt last week in the slow cooker, it was super easy and we were thoroughly pleased with the result. The yogurt came out creamy, delicious and magnificent! Adding some berries and some toasted granola made this a pleasure beyond compare to anything I have ever tasted in store bought yogurt.
It may not seem like a huge difference in price, but when you consider that normally I would buy about two-500g tubs of yogurt per week, the savings can really add up! Even if you only bought yogurt on sale at 0.34$ per 100g, over a year of grocery you would have saved 60$. What you would be getting in return are a few ingredients I am not too keen on having in my diet. Among them, nutrasweet, or other artificial sweeteners, and stabilizers such as alginates (carageenan), gelatins, gums (locust bean, guar), pectins, and starch.
