Happy Mothers Day!

Moms typically keep the house tidy, monitor the bills, take care of the kids, make sure the laundry is clean, and cook and cook and cook. They are in their own way a housekeeper, a daycare center operator, a facilities manager, a chauffeur, and do the work of a personal chef.

If these jobs and the hours moms spent doing them were salaried, a typical mom would make about $122,730 based on a survey recently conducted by salary.com.

It would be nice if there was actually a way to pay our moms this kind of salary to thank them for the hard work they do, but in many ways, the celebration around Mother's Day is the best a mom can get. So Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there who make the meals and strive to find creative ways to put new foods on the table.

To everyone else, be kind to your mom today... and remember to take a minute to celebrate all she does, much like a friend of mine did in composing this tribute for his mom:
